This Morning

Maria cried when we left her at school. I guess she just wanted to stay with Mama today. It broke my heart, I cried all the way to work. I called her school as soon as I got in and Ms. Ruthie said she was fine. She said she was helping her watch the other kids. My little Maria looked totally cute today, she was wearing one of her new dresses with her new little capris. I forgot to take pictures, but I'll try and get some tonight.

Yolanda is cleaning our house right now, it will be so nice to walk in my door and get a nose full of pine-sol. Isn't that the best clean smell ever. You know the only problem I have with Yolanda is that she doesn't clean our shower in the master bath, what's up with that. When I asked she just said she just can't get it that clean, but really I just think she doesn't like to do walk-in showers. She did that at my friends house too...weird! I'm afraid to push it because I don't want to lose her or her 50 dollar rate!

I'm sending my cousin and his new bride a congratulations on your elopement to Vegas wedding card. I can send a card for that right?

Well that's my morning so far. Let's see what the rest of the day brings.

Changes

I have a doctor's appointment next Thursday and it's the dreaded annual exam. Long cotton swab anyone...bleh. While I'm there I'm going to ask about my Thyroid. I've been reading about it lately because, well I'm trying to find any excuse for my weight gain and inability to lose weight. I have, not all, but some of the systems for for a bum thyroid...WTF!! So I will ask to be tested and I think I'm also going to look into getting a nutritionist and/or trainer, someone who can kick my butt everytime I screw up. Unless there are any volunteers out there! Wink, Wink at Jenn! So anyway back to the real reason I'm writing this blog. It's about my current life update.

Maria has started Montessori school and we all love it. She did so well her first day there and tomorrow will be her second day. Right not we only have her attending T,W,Th and when Riley starts working again we will add a day or two depending on schedules. Her school is called The Children's House Montessori school and I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a home away from home for their children. Let me know if you're interested and I'll pass along all the info I have.

In related news, Riley is looking for a job. He would like a dispatching position so if anyone has any leads, let me know.

Yolanda is back...woohoo, if you don't know who that is, let me scream from the rooftops that she is a wonderful cleaning lady!! She cleans my whole house every two weeks for 50 bucks a pop and she's so mindful of the baby's stuff and just an all around good person. If you want her number, hit me up!

We had a raton en mi casa, but he is long gone now. Riley had a weeklong battle with him and Riley was the victor! While he was alive he claimed my closet as his home so Riley, my good and sweet husband, cleaned out my whole closet, I can actually walk in there now!

I got my dress for Morgan's wedding and I still haven't tried it on because I'm scared to see how bad it looks on me. I know, I know, I need to try it on so I can send it back if it looks like crap.

Well that's all she wrote folks, just another happy little day in Becca's world!

It's Been a Year

A year since what you ask. Well it's been a year since I became a mama, a year since my beautiful, life changing baby came into this world. Today Maria is 1. She was born at 1:21am on 1/21/2009. She weighed 8lbs. 12oz. and was 21 inches long. Today she's closer to 30 inches long and about 25lbs. She has 8 visible teeth, four on the top row, four on the bottom and two hidden bicuspids coming in. She still has that beautiful platinum blonde hair she was born with and dark blue eyes you can't look away from. Her cheeks are chubby, her legs are strong, and her grip is that of the Hulk. She says mama and dada, she walks and is beginning to run. She laughs and giggles and can't help but join in. She loves stuffed animals (we have a name for them all). She has two favorite commercials (she likes the music) and whenever she sees a kitty, her face lights up (Riley and I see a kitten in our future). She is beyond curious, she's bright eyed and bushy tailed. She is a morning person, like her mama. She wakes up with a smile and wants a hug first thing. She loves mandarin oranges, she loves her Nana and Tata and most of all she's mine. Of course I have to share her with her daddy, but she's really all mine. I've never felt so much love for another human being. My heart has never been so full, so satisfied, so complete. This little green bean has changed so many lives just by existing. Thank you God for giving me and Riley such a force, such a beauty, such a child as this.

I love you my baby girl, my Maria. Happy 1st Birthday!

The Diet is Over!!

Yes that's right folks Riley and I have made a collective decision to end our diet. So after last night we both noticed that after we eat our carb loaded dinner we both crash, we're in bed before 9:00 and we used to stay up till 11:00. Now we used to need those hours to get stuff done around the house and to spend time together while Maria is sleeping. I also was having a bad feeling about the amount of protein I was taking in. I actually had chest pains this morning, bacon and eggs every morning is not good for me. Also when you have that much protein you need to find a way to get fiber and if you don't have fiber then you have potty problems, you know what I mean...i hope! So We're done with the diet, Morgan I'll send you the books, you can look it over and see what you think, but Riley and I are not fans.

So there's today's diet update. On to try something else, I'm a serial dieter.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Diet Follow Up and Other News

I'm doing fantastic on this diet. It's so much easier to do this diet than any other diet I've ever tried, my bff might even start doing it. My magic 8 ball even told me I would definitely lose weight on this diet.

To finish up the day two menu for dinner I had a garlic and lemon jenny o turkey loin and some red potatoes and carrots with a side salad. It was delicioso. Thank you my wonderful husband for preparing our dinners. You're so awesome!

In other news:

Riley's daughter, Katrina, ran away from home. She lives in Phoenix with her mother and she left her mom a note in the mailbox saying "I'm not coming home and I need to live life to the fullest." She's 15 days shy of 18 and her mother did the oh so smart thing of shutting off Katrina's phone, uh hello lady maybe one of us could have called her and talked some sense into her, but no, now no one has any way of reaching her even to just see if she's okay.

Katrina is going to have quite the wake-up call I just hope it happens before she makes any permanent mistakes.

So there's a day in the life of Becca. Take care everyone and make today a good one.

The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet: Day 1

Yesterday was Day 1 of the new diet.

First let me start by explaining the diet:

It's called The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet by husband/wife doctors. So here's the premise. You eat little to no carbs for breakfast and lunch, and what's considered a little bit of carbs is less than 4 grams per serving. So you have your breakfast and lunch and then you have dinner, which is called your "reward meal."

Now the deal with the reward meal is you have to eat it within 60 minutes. The great thing about that is that it can be anything you want. You can have carbs, you can have dessert, and you can have beer (this is why Riley likes the diet).

So here's what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast - Carl's Jr. put together an omelet of eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheese. Yummy

Lunch - beef/cheese stick combo, and another cheese stick (this was a terrible lunch because it wasn't enough to eat and it wasn't balanced. It's my fault I didn't plan ahead)

Snack - 7 to 14 pepperonis

Dinner - fried fish, tater tots, salad (spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, croutons, and balsamic dressing)

Dessert - McDonald's Cherry Pie (Riley surprised me) and a few bites of Dulce De Leche ice Cream (my favorite)

Beverages - 1 cup of whole milk, and a big glass of generic crystal lite.

So all in all I didn't too bad. I really went all out on the Reward meal because I was STARVING!!

Ugh, just as I was typing I was offered a doughnut, but I will stand strong and not pass through the threshold of tasty deep fried dough with sweet sticky icing. Oh how I love doughnuts.

Anyway back to my blog. I'm on day two and I'm much more prepared.

Day Two Menu:

Breakfast - Riley made me two eggs (scrambled) and 4 slices of bacon and a big glass of orange crystal lite (generic)

Lunch - salad (left over from last night) with canned white chicken breast and a cheese stick and ten sprays of my balsamic salad dressing

snack - beef/cheese stick combo

Dinner - We'll See!!

Now another thing you have to do is weigh yourself everyday for the first two weeks of the diet, but I've chosen not to do that, I just want to see if my clothes start fitting big, that's my goal!!

In other news our Christmas tree is up and so pretty. It's a 9 footer with white lights and the prettiest ornaments. I love Christmas and especially this Christmas because it's the first one with my baby. I hope everyone has a wonderful December 1st and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
